1. Information We Collect
BuildLink collects the following categories of data to provide property analysis services.
Account Data
Full name, email address, and organisation details you provide when signing up.
Property Data
Property listing URLs you submit for analysis, manual data entry, and generated reports and memos.
2. Browser Extension
The BuildLink browser extension for Chrome enhances your workflow by reading property listing data directly from supported portals.
What It Reads
The extension reads publicly visible property listing data from Rightmove and Zoopla pages you visit: price, address, bedrooms, bathrooms, square footage, EPC rating, tenure, and listing images. It does not read any other browsing data.
Where Data Goes
Scraped property data is sent only to BuildLink servers (buildlink-os.onrender.com) for analysis, and to buildlinkos.com for display. Data is transmitted over HTTPS. No data is sent to any other third party by the extension.
Permissions Used
activeTab: read the current property listing page. scripting: inject the content script to extract listing data. storage: remember your account link locally. tabs: detect when you are on a supported property portal.
No Tracking
The extension does not track your browsing history, inject ads, collect analytics, or run on any pages outside of Rightmove, Zoopla, and the BuildLink app. It activates only when you visit a supported site.
3. Legal Basis for Processing
Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the lawful bases we rely on for processing this information are:
(a) Your consent: For the provision of tailored property alerts and marketing communications. You are able to remove your consent at any time by contacting privacy@buildlink.io.
(b) Contractual obligation: To provide the core underwriting and property analysis services you have subscribed to.
(c) Legitimate interest: For improving our underwriting models and maintaining the quality and security of the service.
4. Third-Party Data Processors
Supabase
Secure database and authentication. All data encrypted at rest via AES-256.
Google Cloud / Gemini 2.0
Visual intelligence processing. Property photos are analyzed for structural red flags (damp, subsidence probability).
Stripe Financial
Secure PCI-compliant payment gateway. BuildLink never stores full payment card details.
5. Data Retention
We keep analysis data for as long as your account remains active. Upon account termination, personal data is purged within 90 days. Professional deal-flow data (memos) can be exported by the user prior to termination.
Log data and IP address information is retained for 12 months to satisfy security auditing requirements, after which it is automatically deleted.
6. Your Statutory Rights
You have extensive rights over your data under the UK DPA 2018.
Right to Erasure
Request permanent removal of your account and deal data.
Right to Access
Receive a full SAR (Subject Access Request) export of all held data.
Data Portability
Export your deal-flow and memos in structured JSON/PDF formats.
Right to Rectify
Update inaccurate account or professional information.
7. Global Compliance
Your Data, Your Control
BuildLink is designed for the modern professional. We do not sell data to lenders, we do not track you outside our app, and we never share your deal-flow with competitors.
